Shular Family

This family is indescribably awesome, and I could tell this immediately by meeting them for the first time for this shoot.  Little Sally and Big Brother Tate were the perfect mix of silly and cute, which made for some carefree, genuine images.  Of course, it’s important to get a few conventional, more posed family shots, but I really think I live for the sweet candid moments where families can let loose, be comfortable, and let their personalities naturally shine.  Katie and Travis, your family is awesome.

{Also, please note the awesomeness of Katie and her daughter’s hair!  Winners of the Best Hair Award go to these gals.}

Patty & Matt: Expecting Lucy

I recently had the honor and privilege of photographing my best friend since middle school.  I’ve known Patty, aka P, for more than half my life, and we might as well be sisters because people get us mixed up all the time.  It’s even been said that our own parents have gotten us mixed up a time or two.

Some people are just meant to be mothers, and this gal is one of them.  She and her husband Matt are expecting their little southern belle and July firecracker, Lucy Magnolia Shoemaker, very soon, and I could not be more excited with anticipation to meet… cough, spoil….this little one who will know me as Aunt Li.:)

Here’s my best friend all aglow and radiant during this so very sweet time of her life.  I think this perfect golden sunset was God shining His love down on these parents-to-be.

Lucy, you’re a lucky one who is so, so loved already, and I just know you’ll love these photos of your parents one day.

Emily & Ethan: Expecting

The word “expecting” denotes anticipation and the unknowingness of the future.  I love using that word instead of “maternity session” because “expecting”, to me,  is more powerful; plus, it relates to the mindset of both parents.

Emily and Ethan are both expecting their first child, little Elijah, and he is already so loved.  His four legged sibling is also anxiously awaiting his arrival, and I’m positive those two will be good buddies from day one.

Congratulations, Emily and Ethan!

Neighborhood Snow Day

Snow always beckons the inner child in us to come out and play.  Perhaps that’s what I love most about it.  The earth is blanketed with a powdery white quilt and time seems to slow down, giving families the most precious gift of all- time together.

For the past six years, Dave and I have lived in a house that we love dearly in a neighborhood that has been beyond good to us.  It’s a community filled with some of the best people I know, and I absolutely love seeing all these precious kids grow up.

Here’s to neighbors who are friends and friends who are neighbors.  And adults who don’t mind to unleash their inner child.

I just have to say how much I love these, Lisa! You warmed my heart. Thank you for taking the time to catch these precious moments. From an extremely grateful momma who couldn’t be there to enjoy it, these pictures are worth more than gold!
